Staff from the Sichuan Academy of Aerospace Technology, a research and development and production complex for the main contractor for China's space program held their group's flag while taking a picture together in front of the Yan'an Revolutionary Memorial Hall, in Yan'an China. The uniforms they are wearing are historical replicas of the type worn by the Chinese Red Army during the Long March that culminated in the PRC's founding. Tourists visiting Yan'an on "Red Tours" focused on China's communist history often times don the uniforms as a way to connect with their history.

The ship would escort the Chancellorsville for nearly their entire time in the South China Sea, before being relieved by a larger Chinese destroyer.
